Event Description

Tickets are now on sale for our June concert. In this concert programmes we are presenting two lesser known gems:

BLOCH: 'Schelomo' for cello and orchestra (Soloist: ARIANA KASHEFI)

TCHAIKOVSKY: Manfred Symphony

Conductor: Robert Max

British cellist Ariana Kashefi is in high demand as a chamber musician and soloist performing in such venues as the Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, and more. She began her studies with Robert Max at the junior department of the Royal Academy of music where she won all available prizes and later completed her bachelors of music with first class honours at the Royal College of Music with Melissa Phelps as an Amaryllis Scholar. At the College she won the cello prize in her first year and was named an ‘RCM rising star’ after performing Prokofiev concertino with the RCM symphony orchestra.

Ariana is a Park Lane Group Young Artist for 2015, as well as being the winner of the 2013 Making Music ‘Awards for Young Concert Artists’ (AYCA) and a finalist in the 2015 Royal Overseas League. Ariana is also the recipient of the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society’s ‘Julius Isserlis Scholarship’ for instrumental studies abroad and recently completed her masters at the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ in Berlin with professor Claudio Bohorquez. In Berlin she was chosen by the school on two occasions to perform in the prestigious ‘Excellence concerts’ for exceptional students. From October 2016 Ariana became one of 30 hand picked students chosen by Maestro Barenboim himself to study in the new Barenboim - Said Academy for an Artist Diploma with Professor Frans Helmerson.

Ariana was selected as participant in the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) String Experience Scheme - performing and working with great conductors such as Daniel Harding, Sir Colin Davis, Bernard Haitink and more. In 2016 Ariana was invited on tour with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under Daniel Barenboimperforming at the BBC proms in London, the Lucerne Festival, Berlin Waldbühne, Salzburg Festival , Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires and Sevilla.

Ariana has appeared as a soloist live on BBC radio 3 ‘In Tune’ performing a selection of works including excerpts from Poulenc’s Cello sonata and a premiere of a new solo cello work by British composer Deborah Pritchard.
Ariana has participated in many festivals and courses including Kronberg masterclasses working with Gary Hoffman, Prussia Cove masterclass’ working intensively with Steven Isserlis, and the Academy musicale Chigiana Siena (Italy), where she worked with Professor David Geringas and was awarded the one available scholarship for an artist of exceptional promise at the end.
