The telephone number for London Transport is almost the same today, though we have lost the exchange name Abbey. Other exchange names have also disappeared, such as Tottenham, Coppermill and Stamford Hill. Did you have a fixed telephone in the hall? It was easy to be cut off or get a crossed line but at least there were no cold calls in those days.
A friendly group of local people. A new topic every month.
