A number of tree stems will be carved by chainsaw over two weekends in Alexandra Park. The sculptures will have a sporting theme to reflect the action at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Each tree sculpture will be carved in a single day.
The event will run between 9 AM to 4PM on Friday 27th to 29th July in the Grove with a classic image of the discus thrower. This will be followed by cycling and shooting.
The following weekend the action will move to the Boating Lake where the sporting themes will be diving, triathlon and hockey.
After the Olympics the sculpture will be relocated around the Park to create a sculpture trail.
