Are you interested in the quality of local streets and public spaces, and would you like to get involved in making Seven Sisters an attractive, healthy and sustainable place to live, work and shop? Summer on the Green is organising three Wednesday Walkabouts for the general community, and also a special session for traders, if they can fit it into their busy schedules.
The walks are free, and will last 2 hours or so, every Wednesday from 27th June to 18th July, meeting 6.30pm sharp at Tottenham Green East. Numbers are limited to about 12, so please email us on info@summeronthegreen to reserve a place. We will provide maps, paper and clipboards – please bring a pen or pencil, your passion and local knowledge! Walks are weather-dependent.
The walks will be led by Haringey Living Streets [we hope, subject to their availability], and by Annie Lennox, a local landscape architect with a special interest in urban revival and community-led initiatives. We will take a critical look at the quality of the environment for pedestrians and cyclists, our streets, green and public spaces and start to develop a 'vision' for how Tottenham could be, identifying our assets and opportunities for improvements and greening. We will concentrate on main routes and spaces, and will probably not have time to look at every individual community safety blackspot or instance of street clutter, but will certainly pick up on these general issues. We will also discuss TfL's proposals for the one-way system.
The traders' walkabout could have a slightly different focus - TfL's new road layout, access, parking, servicing and refuse issues and how to create a great setting for our shops and markets.
We will pull everyone’s comments together into a document and circulate it to all attendees and to decision-makers.
