Every Colour & Shape by Abdul Mohammed
"Painting to me is happiness, it comes from every colour and shape. I create my own things."
Exhibition Open: Saturday 25th June 11 – 5pm & Sunday 26th June 11 – 4pm
At Giuseppe Conlon House, 49 Mattison Road, LONDON, N4 1BG
Drawing on inspiration from his upbringing in Somalia and Kenya, and his current life in London, Abdul creates landscapes and skyscapes. Blending experience, memory, fantasy and the everyday, he makes unique compositions of colour and light.
Abdul Mohammed was born in Somalia in 1973. In 2000 he fled to Britain seeking political asylum. In the last 11 years he has lived in various places in England, and has been homeless for a considerable amount of that time. With the support of UK homeless charity Crisis, Abdul has the use of a studio space and access to painting materials. Abdul is a good friend of 'Giuseppe Conlon House', a London Catholic Worker project for destitute refugees, where the exhibition will take place.
