Introduction
Vedic Chanting originates in India, and is one of the most important tools of Yoga

In this workshop we will learn timeless Sanskrit chants in a supportive group environment. Chanting in a group can help you learn faster and enjoy the collective resonance. It promotes fluency and pace, and is great for increasing confidence

At the core of Vedic chanting is the concept of MANTRA meaning 'that which protects you'. Mantra consist of sounds which are vocalised in a very conscious way. Because each sound is said to vibrate on an elemental level, knowledgeable practitioners can influence their body, mind and feelings. Individual sounds known as BIJA or 'seed sounds' are combined to create a Mantra which is specifically chosen for it's meaning and relevance to you

Mantra-s are typically used to promote good health, peace, intelligence, abundance or devotion

Vedic chanting was little known in the West until pioneering teachers such as T. Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar started to make it accessible to their students of Yoga, including women, in the latter part of the 20th Century. The aim of this workshop is to share some of the secrets of this majestic technique. WARNING - Vedic chanting may change your life... for the better!

Benefits of chanting
• stronger and longer breath
• conditions your voice, improves speech and articulation
• concentration and memory

• recognise, pronounce and understand words in the beautiful language of Sanskrit (useful for Yoga instructors)
