I had a very brief conversation with a rather harassed, but lovely lady pulling bins out onto the street for the bin wagon earlier this morning. Our bins should have been collected yesterday.

She said the problem is cross borough as there are not enough drivers. Apparently there are 11 wagons sat in the yard unable to be used because there is no one there to drive them. She intimated they had gone elsewhere as they were being paid more. Her parting comment was 'that is 100,000…

Apparently the lack of HGV drivers across the UK that is underpinning this local issue is being put down to the fact that a large number of HGV qualified drivers were EU nationals that have gone back to the EU...

Just came out of the house to find someone rifling thru our dustbins - confronted the guy who was apologetic and said he was homeless. He went away with a christmas decoration he had hooked out of our rubbish. Has this happened to anyone else and should we be worried?

Hi all, I'm hoping someone might be able to help me.

In early April Veolia never returned my bin to the front courtyard after emptying it and someone has evidently nicked off with it. My flatmate and I both contacted Haringey Council to ask for a replacement bin and they've dithered and dathered since, first claiming that we would have to pay £30 to replace it, and then agreeing that if Veolia were at fault then the charge would be waived. They sent someone out to 'investigate' who closed his investigation because he was sent to check for a missing recycling, not refuse, bin. They then said they would send another investigator out, but never did and have no record of that conversation when we rang to follow up. They have again suggested that they will send out someone to investigate, but I don't have high hopes.

My flatmate is about ready to just pay the £30 to get this over and done with, but I don't think that's fair.

I just want a replacement bin supplied free of charge, as the council confirmed I am entitled to.

Any tips on who to contact to get this sorted promptly? We have one bin between two flats and it's getting very full each week!
Veolia - bin swapping at collectiontag:harringayonline.com,2018-02-07:844301:Topic:10566072018-02-07T08:12:37.223ZAnkahttps://harringayonline.com/profile/Anka

I do not normally see when the waste collection happens but as it happens today I was near the window as saw bins from outside my house (conversion) being taken out by one man and other two bins (from previous house) being put in their place.

You would say a bin is a bin BUT I clean the ones at the front of my house and was wondering why they get so filthy so quickly so now I know why.

Any point calling Veolia about that?

Yes, I could swap them back myself now but normally I am not at home at this time and would not like to have to do it every week.

Hello

I moved to Roseberry Gardens a few months ago and can't quite believe how much its used for rubbish dumping / fly tipping, and how bad the littering is of take away packages and booze bottles.
I posted a while ago asking if anyone would be interested in joining me in creating a volunteer group to clean the streets round Bruce Grove and surrounding area and I got a decent response.

Having liaised with the council and cleaning department they've finally agreed to support us with equipment to give this a decent go so I just wanted to see if I could get a few people together to actually make it happen.

If you are interested please email me at richardmacleansmith@gmail.com so we can arrange the best time and place. I've had a few people ask to organise it for a Sunday and see how we go from there but we can also do evenings if that suited better.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Not to mention leaving more time for eager foxes to rip apart and feast on, often using our front patios as dinner tables.

I'd like to petition someone to bring an end to this brazen disregard for our area (you certainly wouldn't have this in Stoke Newington, let alone Mayfair) but wanted to know other people's thoughts on this - and if anyone had a good idea about who best to direct the petition at?

On another note, I also wanted to gauge what enthusiasm there may be for starting a voluntary group to clean the streets around Bruce Grove - I'm currently in discussions with the council about getting equipment to help with this and finding out where we can leave the rubbish for collection once we pick it up. I don't expect a swift answer but I am working on it...

Best,
Richard
Woodside Gardens
Wheelie Bin Hell makes the BBC Breakfast Newstag:harringayonline.com,2013-08-16:844301:Topic:5239382013-08-16T16:02:25.923ZChristopher Rileyhttps://harringayonline.com/profile/ChristopherRiley
