But, due to the lockdown restrictions, we obviously could not use them. After Covid our lives changed considerably and now have a significant quantity of unused visitor parking permits set to expire at the end of this year.

We will be loosing lots of money - but Haringey will not refund or give for credit for them.

If anyone has any idea how we could avoid loosing all this money please let me know.

After a few years away I’m moving back to Harringay soon - looking forward to it.
However, I need to buy visitors permits to use straight away for our removal company and a handyman who is coming to do some work on the house before we unpack. It looks like I won’t be able to apply for these until my residents permit goes through - but I can’t apply for that until moving day! Any ideas as to how I can get around this? In previous years I would have asked to buy paper visitor permits from anyone with spares but that no longer works either…!

The moves across the board to online only access to Council services is exclusive. What is happening to the many older people and others who struggle with online applications?

I have managed with some difficulty to purchase vouchers so I can have people visit me but find that I have to register their use online including details of car registrations etc. I am pretty skilled in issues of IT but am aware that many residents either are not, or have no internet facilities at home.

And what does this mean for those spontaneous drop ins of friends and family that are so vital for residents who are restricted to their homes through disability or illhealth?

For a Council which calls itself inclusive, I wonder who cooked up these plans?

I'm trying to buy some new visitor parking permits, and the typically unintuitive council website seems to suggest these are now virtual (just like the residents permits).
The closest I can see are the 'Permission to Park' permits, which seem aimed at tradesmen. Is this what visitors should be applying for? Can't see shifting the burden of payment from resident to visitor (be they friend/family or tradesman) will go down well when I'm next asked for a permit!

Am I missing something, either figuratively or literally here?

Local Whatsapp groups are also alight with stories about it.

As it happens, personally, I've had no problems with the system. A couple of months back I renewed my residents' parking permit. Okay, the system may have been a little clunky, but it was okay.

I have a stock of paper visitor permits, which has meant that I haven't had to buy any virtual ones. So, yesterday, in an effort to experience the widely reported problems first-hand, I made a test purchase of a single one-hour visitor permit. And, I have to say, it went without a glitch.

But there are too many complainants to conclude anything other than there must be a significant issue of some sort with the system.

Was my journey easy because I'd previously bought my residents permit through the system? Are people doing anything at their desk that the system designer didn't anticipate?

I had a phone call this morning about this issue from a concerned resident of the borough. Whilst he voiced frustration about the issue, his approach was wholly constructive: his focus was on how to get things fixed.

He suggested that the council actually spend some time speaking with the people experiencing problems buying their permits to get to the bottom of the issue. Perhaps, even invite them in and sit with them at a computer and observe the issue as it happens.

Perhaps you're already on top of this issue, dear council, and you're working furiously with your contractors to fix it. If so, great. But if this is the case, why not tell us?!

In the meantime, we have to assume that you're struggling, and you can't fix things. So, can we the people help?

I am sooooo frustrated with the council's new online parking voucher tool. First of all, it's actually a separate website with a different log-in despite looking very similar to the original council website. For some reason, I can never get my password to work. I have to keep requesting a new one. Last night, all of my requests failed and my partner ended up with a ticket this morning.

Using the website makes me so incredibly frustrated, I've never experienced such a terrible interface! It makes me feel like a complete luddite... and I have a Masters and PhD in computer science. If I struggle to use it, what does that mean for others???

Anyway... Does anyone know how to get in touch with them about the site? Do I really just have to email them? How incredibly annoying.
