From research I discovered that Brownswood is an area just down the road at Manor House, so I wonder if there is likely a connection to that - I can't find any old brands going by that name.

I'm going to contact The Brownswood pub to see if they ever produced bottles like these, but if anyone else knows anything/has any knowledge of what it likely contained that would be great! It seems more likely to be a medicine (or poison!) bottle rather than alcohol due to its small size. Would love to find out more about it.

Front internal door repair - any recommendations?tag:harringayonline.com,2018-11-30:844301:Topic:11368062018-11-30T14:55:17.867ZMalc Bhttps://harringayonline.com/profile/MalcolmB

Our internal front door (original Victorian) is in need of some TLC - in particular the broken glass panels need replacement. Has anybody had work done on theirs recently, and if so would you reccomend the crowd that did it? We've had one reccommendation but they never answer the phone!

Hi

Just wondering on the off-chance if anyone in the middle of a refurb is removing a wooden fire surround. I live on a Victorian house and would like to frame the gaping hole left by the previous owners in the living room (when the fireplace was removed) with an era-aporopriate frame and mantle piece.

Happy to pay.

Please send me a connection request and pic if you have anything suitable.

Thanks

dear all,

I was wondering if someone on Willingdon Rd living in a Victorian house (or similar housing stock) would mind describing where their stopcock is.

I think we have a leak, but Thames Water won't come unless we can turn off the water from the inside, which we can't, as we don't know where the stopcock is! (and neither does the landlady).

It was suggested that someone in a similar house might be able to assist by explaining where theirs is.

These were in situ when we first moved in in 1984 and probably date from around 1900. Each tile is approximately 18cms square with slight variations in design - some have the double inset shape as show below and some just a single arch as shown in the second picture.
