Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
North, South, East or West
Which way is what? My sister-in-law lives in Lothair Rd South, and some times I wait for a taxi home from Sainsburys in the Beaconsfield pub on the corner of Lothair Rd North. But to me Green Lanes runs from North to South, (or visa versa which ever way you look at it.) So that would make Lothair Rd West and East. Wouldn't it?

Completely. Often wondered the same myself. Here's hoping we get some fascinating story about why they were so called. Can't think of a reason myself - well on a map LR Soouth is a bit more southerly than LR North, but it must be more than that.

OK, I think I can make a good guess. Which road would you, a Victorian Londoner, rather live on, Lothair Rd East or Lothair Rd West? Right. The developers would not have wanted that would they... so if I was them I would just say... "this one's slightly south of that one" and hey presto, a solution to a possibly sticky sales problem.
