Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Free training to help Haringey residents to reduce the carbon footprints of their homes.

Our homes account for 40% of London's carbon footprint (excluding aviation). For every £3 spent on home heating, £1 is just wasted.
There are lots of easy, simple and cheap ways to improve the energy efficiency of your home - saving you money, making you more comfortable and saving the planet too! Many people are entitled to these improvements free - or to grants which substantially bring down the cost.

But lots of people don't take up the available offers. So the Sustainable Haringey Network and Haringey Council together plan to train an army of volunteers to:

- Visit people in their home
- Do a quick non-technical assessment of how they could be improved
- Explain what home energy improvements they are entitled to and how to get them.

The volunteer training programme needs to be tested, so we are looking for some pioneers - to check that the training works properly and really gives the volunteers enough confidence to carry out home visits and offer advice.
The first pilot session will be held at Wood Green Library on 22nd September 2007 The session is from 2 to 4.30pm, and refreshments will be provided. There will be lots of opportunities for questions. The training will be in a small group, so places are limited and need to be booked in advance - first come first served!

If you are interested in being a volunteer, or in helping to train others in your area, please get in touch with Jane on 078 1748 3167 to register for a place on the training session.
