Anyone know what this was used for?

I've walked past this countless times and yet have no clue what it actually is.

Any ideas?

I think it’s still used. It’s for hauling boats in and out for maintenance work.

It's a kind of crane used to lift maintenance boats out of a lorry and into the water.
