Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I am lucky enough to have six months off work, and am interested in a daytime arts class - something quite general and varied, like a children's arts & crafts workshop but just for adults! I've done quite a bit of online research, including on HoL and Harringay Adult Learning courses, but haven't found anything quite suitable yet. I could be being picky, but if anyone has any suggestions that would be much appreciated.

Sally Bourne Interiors in Middle Lane N8 and Nest in Weston Park N8 both do various crafts based lessons etc (knitting, crochet, felting etc). Both are nice people, particularly Nest which is a new shop run by a mum and daughter - lovely shop.
Not right on our doorstop, but there's a place just off Liverpool Road in Islington called The Make Lounge which does classes for various crafts.  I haven't actually been there, I just know it's there because I've been past it a few times, but here's a link in case it offers what you're looking for: http://www.themakelounge.com/
The Art Experience at 183 Priory Road N8, tel 8340 9676 does lots of art classes for adults and children. Haven't tried it myself, but it is highly recommended by many in the area.

How about learing to sew and make your own clothes?  Its not local but Fashion Antidote runs lots of great classes for beginers in the day, evening and week ends. Its based near to Liverpool St Station so you can get there easily from Hornsey or Harringey stations. The web address  is www.fashionantidote.com

hi Sue

I'm the Principal of the Mary Ward Centre www.marywardcentre.ac.uk near Russell Square and Holborn tube stations.

We have various craft courses with spaces for this term left in textiles, including felt, jewellery, enamelling, print making....you can enrol online or by calling in this week on Thurs or Friday between 1.30 - 4.30pm.

Mary Ward's a nice place to be, great cafe etc, but then maybe I would say that!

All best

Ceri

Thanks for all your input - I'm looking into the various suggestions made in the hope of finding something that strikes my fancy.
