Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi All, a guy in flourecent jacket and flashing a card knocked on my door to say that he was doing building work down the road and was knocking on doors to see if anyone else needed work done.  It didn't ring through for me tbh and he had obviously had a good look through my window as he commented on something.  Also, he just had the one card and did not offer to leave it.  The card said 'First Choice' or something like that.  I then left the house and saw him further up the street with another guy and they seemed to be very selective on which houses they knocked (they also dropped litter which really annoyed me) and when the guy saw me they left the road and went on to Wightman Road.  I am just putting the note on here to give others a heads up as something didn't ring through with me.

This is a great update.  What baffles me is that they are selecting houses to approach rather than just popping cards through the door.  Seems really odd also in walking around in very new looking high visibility jackets.  Well done for reporting it.

Oh a guy knocked at our place too and asked if we wanted them to fix our front fence. It does need fixing so I assumed they were just looking at places that looked like they needed work and knocking. I didn't get a strong 'con' vibe personally.

It amazes me how many people do door knocks during the day though. Does anyone ever actually answer the door to a complete stranger and say 'why sure.. come on in, I do happen to want some building work done/to obtain some fish/to buy a painting/to join your church...'?

I thought you need quite rare license to sell door to door these days? Does anyone know, or is it a free for all ?

Interestingly the chuggers do better door to door than on the street, I never thought it would be possible but apparently it's the best way to do it, it seems quite a lot of people are willing to do business on the door step. Probably explains the garden path traffic.
