Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just want to express dismay at the remodelled exit at junction of Burgoyne/Green Lanes. Has now bcome the narrowest exit road on the ladder. Why?

I dont accept the argument that the pub needs both sides of the both sides of the road to accommodate clientele. We wany them to stay in the pub not out on streets fighting and noisy. Has made Burgoyne ugly and very inconvenient for drivers. I hate it.

A road made inconvenient for drivers. Hurrah! More please!

Agreed. The roads are mostly convenient for drivers.

It won't stop people (like me) having to use it to get home to my own road, but will probably mean idling cars backed up halfway up the street. Poor residents of Burgoyne.

That's right.

Also, something going on at the bottom of Umfreville - the parking bays outside the doctors' are coned off, and a pile of paving slabs there. I think they might be about to narrow all the junctions.

There was very wide consultation on this, lasting for several months, where anyone could have raised an objection.

Oh I certainly did!

So did I. There's a rumour going round that it was a forgone conclusion and the consultarkln was purely cosmetic.
A number of ideas were either scrapped or changed as a result of the consultation.
I agree with Therese that Garden residents have got themselves a wonderful deal with no through route to Green Lanes on the majority of roads. And all that without any "consultation" of Ladder
residents (who now suffer from increased traffic as a result)!!
I don't think we do suffer increased traffic because of the Gardens closure. I've lived here since the early 1980's (on the Ladder) and before the Gardens was gated at the at the St Ann's Road end it was a nightmare for everyone either side of Green Lanes. The traffic would try to short cut by turning into Warwick or Kimberley Gardens and then onto Green Lanes. The hold ups were horrendous and I remember regularly being on a bus from the Salisbury to Manor House for 30 minutes as cars pushed out from the Garden roads. Now traffic can only get on to GL via Salisbury Road which has a traffic light and so regulates the traffic flow. I am not a car hater but believe that pedestrians and those using cycles and public transport should always be given priority. Pinching the roads going on to GL means that I don't have to deal with a double line of traffic, one trying to turn left and one right, as I cross the road.

By the way, I am completely in favour of a serious look at the closure of Wighman. I live on Warham which takes a lot of the traffic from Salisbury Road onto Wightman as drivers want to avoid GL. If the closure of Wightman to through traffic could keep traffic on GL where it belongs I would be in favour of it. The problem we have is that whereas the Gardens has two feeder roads from St Ann's, we have a potential 19 to regulate (depending on the traffic direction)
