We went the other day for a special occasion.

The look and feel of the place is indeed very, very good. Service was friendly and attentive.

The food was OK - but not as special as it you might expect for the price and location. Given earlier comments about the food not being very good - it does seem clear that things have improved, but they still need to up their game if they want to maintain these prices.  At the moment it is too expensive for a 'regular' , but if I was looking for a special occasion again it might not come to mind.

I would love it if this place could really work. So much work has gone into this and it has the potential to be a very special addition to the area.

I went to Cafe Tramp two nights ago and was very sadly disappointed! Had been wanting to try it for a while, and as I had heard it was so expensive I had put off! But it was a special occasion so me and my boyfriend eagerly booked a table and went to see what it was all about! 

Unfortunately both of us were very very disappointed with our food. My boyfriend's veg was somehow totally burnt and the sauce was unbelievably salty!

My roast dinner was probably the worst roast I've ever had...I couldn't decide between the meats so I asked the waitress if the pork had crackling with it and she said yes...there was no crackling of course. The pork was so dry, I could hardly eat it! I asked for more gravy to help...worst mistake ever! Before trying the gravy I poured it all on, and it turns out that it was also too salty to eat! Ended up leaving most of it, and had to actually spit one mouthful out into my napkin as I couldn't chew the dry meat!! 

It was overpriced to say the least, and the food was almost inedible!! I wouldn't recommend it! The tapas restaurant on Wightman Road is much nicer, with a nicer atmosphere too!

Oh dear, that doesn't sound very good. 

I went a couple of months ago for brunch and was told the menu would soon be changing, so I held off on writing anything for my blog (which I keep as a positive space anyway) or commenting here.

I do want to try it again, but I must admit I was underwhelmed on that occasion.  I will say the coffee was good - and it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to coffee.  I was put off my food a bit by the smell of incense, which turned out to be coming from the toilets.  Strong smells like that have no place in a restaurant.

There's never many people in there - ridiculous that after all that time perfecting the wooden staircase etc, they can't work out how to run the place successfully - i give it maybe 6 months before it closes or converts to a rather fancy-looking kebab shop

My wife and I went tonight. As with many other posters, we'd been intrigued for some time.

First things, first: pricing. Tramp is not an expensive restaurant. c. £5 for a starter, and £12-20 for a main is pretty average for this type of place. It is however, high priced by Green Lanes standards. But that's no issue I don't think. It's an entirely different experience from a brightly lit, cheap n cheerful Turkish joint.

It should be noted there is a 2 courses for £16 deal on a week night.

Decor as much discussed, is great, and there are lots more interesting bits and pieces you have to go inside to find. The tucked away top floor and bathrooms to mention but two.

Food was very good. Not earth shattering, but certainly I'd happily eat there again. The chef we were told, is a dessert specialist, and that was evident in the puds which were divine.

Service was friendly, attentive at just the right level, and as previous poster commented, you get the feeling they are really invested in the restaurant. Also happy to report no 'mandatory' service charge on the bill.

It was quiet when we were there. Admittedly we ate early-ish, but there were only two other tables taken. The manager told us it is a bit up and down at the moment, but they're certainly making efforts to increase the crowd. Sunday roasts, breakfasts, jazz evenings are just some of the additions post-opening.

All-in-all, I'd heartily recommend a visit. It's something different, and a welcome addition, but at the end of the day, it needs our support and custom to survive.
