Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello,

I have sold my car some time ago.

But do require a car now and then to travel and visit family.

mostly we try to use local transport and cab services.

I need car for three to four hours top.

I have Full UK driving license since 1970 and no points.

I am happy to negotiate the time and day if necessary.

The cost must be inclusive of comprehensive insurance and possible none or very low excess.

I am 67 years old live in Haringey since 1980 with a freehold house.

I arrive in the UK since 1969.

Any help, advice, or direction?

Zip car, now the car is ok but have a very high excess of around £700.00

I do not know the wat around.

Thanks.

There's a company that offers Excess insurance - www.icarhireinsurance.com ...

Thanks,

Will checkout.

We use Zipcar and you can buy car hire excess insurance (google serch will help you) and this covers the excess if Zipcar try to claim against you.  Whilst we have never had this issue with Zipcar, we have used it when we damaged a hire car in Italy one year and they paid out for the excess charges immediately.

Great,

this would be helpful if give the name of the insurance company,

since you have used it then there no need to look around.

Also,

In the N4 area which hires company easily available at a reasonable cost?

This is the one we use - https://www.icarhireinsurance.com/car-club-insurance-products but I recently saw Martin Lewis Smith on Money Saving Expert had some good discount codes so shop around - https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-car-hire/

In regards to hire cars, I have used Europcar which are just at the top of Green Lanes near the intersection of A406 so its easy to catch 141 there.

Thank you for information and support.

Zipcar is good if you want short and fairly local trips. Not so good if you want a whole day and are going to go over their inclusive mileage rate (I think 100 miles). In terms of good local companies there are a few threads on this site about this - https://www.harringayonline.com/forum/topic/listForTag?tag=car+hire

When we needed a car a few weeks back we ended up going to Sixt by Caledonian Rd rube station - I couldn’t find anyone more local than that. They were ok but annoyingly were running out of manual cars (which is what I wanted).

thank you for sharing with me.

I will go through the treads and learn more of.

I still believe less car on the road is better unless required for living.

So far for short trips now and then. Max 50 miles return journies.
