Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Clive Carter's Photo Essay on Flickr is here - it includes this photograph which he suggests shows Wightman Road c1887, "This view is from the hill above which Chettle Court now sits. It's in a north-east direction, across the already several railway tracks, towards the knoll, or bump in terrain, where "ladder road" Hewitt Road now runs." I'd not seen this one on here before.

It's a great photo, Eugene. In fact it is also in our collection on HoL. I think it's one of a collection I've published that were taken by the North Middlesex Photographic Society. I had most of the rest of the collection in my possession till a few years ago when I gave them to John Hinshelwood for onward transmission to the Hornsey Historical Society. We have 57 images from before 1885.

For the rest, I've recently changed the access to the collection through a listing of albums. Given that it now numbers more than 3,000 images (and there are many many yet to be published), it needs much better organisation. The most common themes are tagged, but other than that, the organisation is into albums by area, then by date.

Thanks Hugh.
