Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi everyone. Need recommendation for a friend.

Can anyone recommend a dentist to do dentures/implants? I have heard that it is really expensive in UK and most people get this done overseas.

With travel and living costs abroad, won't that be the same? Or maybe even expensive?

Any recommendations for a local affordable private or NHS dentist? Any experience with full/half dentures?

I had dental implants at Alexandra Park dental practice N22. No charge for an examination and detailed quote. I found the dentist friendly and communication very good. The cost  was competitive. The problem with overseas deals is that you really need several visits over quite a long period. Check out their reviews.

My friend went here- and had a full set of dentures. they look great, really natural and he is over the moon with them and the service.

Might be worth looking at an Insurance plan to see if buying for a year would help cover costs. I have a company subscription with Unum, but there are others (Denplan?). If you know you are going to incur treatment in a given year you could save by being able to claim a % back. I did this for my husband to have a single implant - they are very expensive.

Thanks everyone. @Jane, Most insurance policies do not cover dentist services. But will check again.

And @Philip, you are right, might end up spending more for travel and living costs abroad..

Thanks for recommendations all, will start checking with those.

Yes it might be cheaper for treatment, and some get package deals, but having implant work needs time, so it could end up being a hassle having to travel etc. Then there is the point to bear in mind, that you get what you pay for. As yes it is expensive in the UK but you know the quality of care and treatment you will receive is second to none. As all dentists have to be GDC registered, or join the specialists list, and that cross infection control is paramount. I have seen a good few issues emerge from patients who went abroad for treatment. I think so as some suggested, see what cover plan you could join and look in to what it offers/the longer term aspects of it/benefits etc. As a patient myself I have only ever used Millenium Dental Practice at Turnpike Lane, but this is mostly because we joined there as youngsters, and then was convenient to stay there, I would not be opposed to going elsewhere. Plus I have not had to have any big work done, and was fortunate to have things done in the places I worked at.

I was referred to Hazlewood Dental Practice in Palmers Green recently regarding possible implant and was very impressed.  A really friendly, professional team.  I had treatment rather opt for the implant but would definitely use them again if that doesn't work.  Not a bargain but very stress free.
