Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I am sure this has been raised before but little winds me up more than the inconsiderate tools who use the kids' playground in Finsbury Park on the Endymion Road side when kids want to use it.

It's a park for under-14s and is signed as such but surely people should offer to leave if kids want to come in. My wife had a blazing row today (you might have heard it) with four men who disagreed that it's for kids and said that they had every right. I think it's intimidating to have them working out in that Park near lone women with kids and they should certainly respect that. I freely admit that I've exercised there myself repeatedly but only when there are no children there, or I make way for kids and parents if they want to come in. Similarly, I don't mind people staying if I'm with my kids if they ask and are not in the way, using the frame designed for children.

We called the council but they were closed. Apparently the way forward is to call the police, who call a park ranger. That seems like overkill. Just a bit of public spirited consideration should avoid all that.

Lol - awesome :)

It is for kids. There's one opposite for adults. Having said that, whenever I'm at the adults one there are people letting their kids use it. Good on your wife, but you should stop using the kids one yourself.
Isn't the one opposite is for everyone? Apologies if I'm mistaken .
It definitely is for anyone, you're right. I think the fenced-in nature and increased pull-up facilities in the kids' playground make it a nicer spot for the gym bunnies, damn their eyes.
No the kids one is for under 14s the adults one is for over 14s. I've seen a couple of dangerous incidents involving little kids messing about on the adults outdoor gym equipment that have made me wince.
You're right, I should really but it's only ever when kids are in school so I justify it to myself that way.
It certainly has:

The council should of course be enforcing this but I presume they would say they don't have the money for park keepers. I'm afraid this just illustrates the "I'll do what I like" culture we now have. That said if my kids wanted to use the equipment and there were men using it to work out we would definitely have words.

There seems to be an unacceptable inter-usage going on- little kids using the adults one and vice versa. They are different, they are meant to be for these specific groups but it doesn't seem to work out that way. Apart from loud arguments what can be done? Probably once someone (probaby a child) is injured, then something will be done.

It's indicative of the way society is going- children given increasing access to once adult-only spaces and adults becoming infantilized and wanting to flex their muscles on climbing frames for kiddies...

The gym in Ducketts Common is just as bad.

Sadly true that this nice DC gym often has little kids climbing all over the stuff while parent stares ahead blankly.....
