Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Anyone had any good experiences with any particular firms that claim to rid your property of mice?

Have been finding droppings here and there and have had the odd sighting too.

Many thanks.

I agree with some of the posts here. Especially re removing all food sources. Also check the outside of your house. Many older metal air vents are damaged or have accessible gaps. I glue a fine wire mesh over them. Beware of using over the counter poison as it is rubbish and can even encourage rodents to come back for more. I once purchase online poison that was advertised as the one used by professionals. not true, the mice loved it! Only professionals can get their hands on the real deadly stuff. Note; when looking for gaps in the skirting boards, a sign of access is a grey smear, rather like pencil marks that have smeared around the gap. The pro's put a special poison around these which adheres to the skin and is absorbed, but you can just block the hole. I did once use pro's in a larger property and they did a good job for about £250

Adopt a kittay? Worked for the ancient Egyptians, works for us.

you don't need to adopt one, I let the neighbour's cat sniff around, he caught and ate them. he comes in every couple of weeks as a deterrent, works a treat. For the cost of a few cat biscuits as enticement I am now mouse free

Well I have his companionship in the garden but as I don't stroke him and he doesn't shed fur in the flat then I don't sneeze all the time

I used Haringey council to sort this problem, when it happened. They were prompt, did an assessment around the house and were able to tell me where and how the mice entered the house. They put down some poison and about two weeks later, the mice just seemed to disappear. The amount they charged was quite small as compared to some of the quotes I got from private companies. I should also add that at the time there were cockroaches in the kitchen. Again, the council came, they 'injected' some solution in various places, and within a week the cockroaches had gone, literally!

The problem with poison though, as has been said, that the mice can die under your floorboards, or a neighbours floorboards, and it is quite extraordinay how disgusting and prolonged the smell of a dead mouse can be.

I realise, just mentioning my experience. I'm not doubting the smells although I did not experience that problem.

Well, I have a very good experience of facing those creepy mice hiding in my house. I can hear their scratching noise in midnights. I was really fed up of this. My aunt who faced the same problem suggested me to take help from rodent control Sacramento to get rid of this. This advice from her was really very helpful.

You can buy electronic rodent repellers, not cheap but maybe a more permanent solution.

The only way to do it I've found without the danger of a horrific smells for many days is to trap them in a mouse trap. Peanut butter or chocolate works very well. They fear new things like smells and objects so don't expect it to work straight away. They can smell where a human hand is for a long time after its touched something. Try and use gloves so your smell isn't present. Place the traps near walls where they sneak along. Be very careful you don't step on the traps. Use many traps in many locations ( up to 10 ). The classic looking wood and metal ones work very well but don't put them outside or you might get a cat or bird.

Also make sure you don't leave any food out anywhere, the key thing is to make your house less attractive than your neighbours.

If you're lazy and like a gamble, put the poison down ( proper poison from pest controller not pound shop, that's just rodent food) but makes sure they can't access water, they will become very thirsty and seek water, if their access to water is outside, they will head out and probably die near the water.

Im not sure about the rodent high pitched alarm things, never tried them but doubt they'll be helpful if you want a garden full of wild life. Also I looked at reviews on Amazon once and they seems to be a bit of a con but maybe they've improved since then.

Good luck !
