I hope you will find this inspiring as yesterday was World Food Day and today is World Poverty Day.
821 million people live in hunger. 60% of them are women. But we know that gender-focused, community-led development can change that.
Two more of our epicentre communities in Africa, Mbale and Osonson are declaring self-reliance. That takes the total to now 37 self-reliant epicentres!
The Hunger Project's Epicentre Strategy is a sustainable strategy for gender-focused, community-led development in rural Africa, created by Africans. Epicentres unite 10,000 to 15,000 people from a cluster of villages, creating a space where communities build the confidence to become leaders - in equal numbers of women and men - of their own development, unlock local capacity for change, and achieve progress on the Sustainable Development Goals. BUT of course it is not just Africa -see a lot lot more on THP.org
