Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

It is very welcome that they have finally got this line up & running. However the enormous cost & time overruns is a scandal. Years were taken up on this project without a service for many weeks & months. I don't think it is acceptable.

I'm amazed..

....That such a stupid commentator can actually spell 'Gauleiter'.. You've obviously been watching far too much Yesterday Channel.

I'll remind you that Lammy represents the make up of his constituency very well, and has over time, matured into a good representative. A MP to be proud of.

David Lammy is an unindicted  war criminal who voted in favour of the invasion of Iraq …& Afghanistan & Libya, (together with the Blairite section of the Labour Party, which  neutralised Dr Kelly. As for trains is it  Fascist to Think the trains should run to time, or even run at all? Better no trains than to be a Fascist. Trains were invented by Fascists to prove that Workers could be moved.

"Trains were invented by Fascists to prove that Workers could be moved."

Meet George Stephenson, the well known engineer fascist.

At least this post gets it back on [railway] track.

I hope Mr Spring can carry on promotion of his long-held distaste for David Lammy [2011 Tottenham riot words, 2002 DL's lack of support for the 'pro-life' lobby] in a less inappropriate thread.

It's very frustrating that they are still closing the line at weekends.  Does anyone know why they're closing the line repeatedly?  The electric trains are installed now, so surely everything must be finished?

The line was handed back in January 2018 and could have run properly if the new trains hadn’t been so badly delayed.

Occasional weekend engineering works are a fact of life on a railway that is almost entirely geared towards the commuter - every TfL line has some over an annual period. It’s just unfortunate that the slow introduction of the new trains, resulting in a reduced service especially at weekends, has overrun into the engineering period.

As another example, the West Coast Main Line has been shut every August Bank Holiday weekend since 2006, until this year where it’s the East Coast’s turn.

The solution to this is to run less trains, less frequently at a lower speed for less of the day, thus reducing maintenance requirements, but I’m not sure passengers would be happy with that.

Cara, as far as I know the last two weekend closures have been because the line between the depot at Willesden and the start of our line at Gospel Oak is blocked by engineering works over the whole weekend (and so no North London Line trains either).

So the trains can't get onto the line. And the depot at the other end of the line at Barking isn't equipped to repair the trains if there's a problem - all repairs and maintenance have to be done at Willesden, it's part of the contract and where the equipment is.

I don't believe it is engineering works at all. It is clearly a fundamental failure of management. I have researched this & am now issuing proceedings against TFL Mayor Khan & the managers of the North London line by which I mean the managers of the Gospel Oak to Barking line. If anyone wants to get involved in this legal case as a co litigant please contact me. I do not believe that Fascism should be defined  (as apparently one or some of your correspondents do) as a belief that trains should run on time. Fascism is much more serious and involves a disregard for democracy, natural law, and respect for life. This is where and why I regard David Lammy as at least a proto fascist, & feel that the parachuted Lammy,  parachuted into the Tottenham constituency over the head of Bernie Grant's widow & who then endorsed Blair's war on Iraq, + other wars should now step aside. In addition Lammy repudiated the result of the Referendum & as one of your other correspondents points out repudiated respect for life from conception to natural death by supporting Stella Creasy's pro IPPF campaign. Hopefully another candidate will replace Lammy at the next General Election.

If this is you, you are of course free to stand against him.  I’m sure the Christian People’s Alliance Party would support your candidacy

Either them or The Angry Party (yes it exists, in the Twittersphere at least), Michael.

Oh I thought this was a troll account - this is a real person!?

Sad but true.
