Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Really pleased to see Veolia out today hosing some of the horribly graffiti off today. Hope the rest gets cleaned up soon - I've been reporting every instance I see on the app under 'graffiti (offensive)' so the council can see where it is.

It is clear that the fault lies solely with the perpetrators. Does anyone know what action the police have taken about it? I logged in using the website but I'm sure they probably received a lot of complaints at the weekend

Well done. I doubt that the Police will allocate any resources to this.

Really?! I would have thought that the highly political nature might spark an investigation. I'm sure this will come up at the LCSP but I can't make it. If anyone is going would be good to hear their response

Yes really.

I'm sure that Ian will not welcome the graffiti, but as a member of the police panel, he's very aware of policing constraints and priorities and I imagine he'll say pretty much the same.

This issue did come up at the LCSP meeting last night, at which our neighbourhood bobby was in attendance, as he is every month. There were apparently 21 instances of this PKK graffiti which went up overnight, last Friday night.

The police are treating this as an issue for community policing, rather than one of investigation. This means they'll be talking with the Kurdish Community Centre (KCC) to try and get their help in ensuring there's no repeat of this. That is not to say that they hold the KCC in any way responsible, rather that they are better place to get any message out to a likely perpetrator than are the police.

Most of the graffiti was removed or painted over by Veolia on Monday.

Thanks for your work Alice B!

I wonder if the marches will still be allowed to run down Green Lanes holding up traffic and creating chaos to people's days?

OF COURSE THEY WILL!

I welcome the freedom any residents of the UK have to protest peacefully without fear of repercussion. I do not welcome any suggestion that a particular group, or groups, should not be accorded that freedom in the same measure that our democratic standards allow.

The people who are at fault are those who did the graffiti. Please don't expand this criminal event to criticise other (lawful) activities that happen on Green Lanes
