Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi there Harringay Online!

This is Ebony and Paul Harding, Harringay residents since 2007.

We thought it was time to share some details with you about our new venture on Green Lanes. If you are regulars at Blend Cafe you may have noticed some work ongoing 2 doors down at 581C, the old internet cafe. We have been busy these past months readying the site so that by Christmas we can open Harringay's newest specialist grocery store.

We will be stocking fresh organic produce sourced predominantly from British farms, free range British meat, dairy, fish, some vegan and vegetarian food and artisan bread from local bakeries as well as loads of other healthy and top notch delicious goods.

Alongside all this amazing food, we will have a wide range of wine including many organic and biodynamic varieties and an expansive range of local London/UK craft beers and ciders.

We are both big music lovers so we also plan to stock a small range of new and second hand vinyl records and cds.

Please bear with us while the renovations are ongoing, we can't wait to open the doors and hope you will be as excited as we are about the Harringay Local Store.

If anyone has any favourite items they'd like us to carry, feel free to mention them in this thread. All suggestions are most welcome!

See you soon,

Ebony and Paul

Fantastic news. Stuff I'd love to see would include....

- peanut butter direct from a machine that crushes the peanuts
- a good spelt flour for baking bread
- good quality classic deli stuff, so marinaded anchovies, olives
- pukka cold cuts, like copa, speck, ventricina salami, nduja, etc
- a decent range high quality unpasteurised cheeses.

And so much more!

Good luck and I can't wait to come in,
Hugo.

Would you be able to stock (1) small jars of Peck's Anchovette and (2) boerewors, please? Thank you.

Exciting! If I could get all of my granola ingredients there I would be happy:http://knityourownyoghurt.com/2011/04/15/granola-2/

At the moment I usually go to Earth in Kentish Town, which is nearish to work.
Vegan marshmallows. Currently I make a special trip to the chocolate counter at Wholefoods Kensington for them every so often...
Kaitaia Fire chili sauce please.

Taifun tofu wieners, please!

Mainly to reinforce existing suggestions!

A good range of FLOURISH bread would be really welcome; one of their most wonderful is the Ancienne loaf (and, Sarah, they do an amazing rye, it's a massive round loaf), but the nearest serious stockist, who do about 10 different Flourish breads, is on Alexandra Pk Rd, which is a trek. Baked in Tottenham, it is the best bread in north (or maybe all of) London - nothing touches it.

Good range of breadmaking flours (to alternate with any breads you decide to stock).

Karen's suggestion of Wilde's Cheese - lovingly made in Tottenham; can't beat it

Standard and 'giant' couscous - and, again, quinoa and tofu.

… and the vinyl records; that is dangerous!

The other half says we're lacking really good quality coffee and herbal tea around here, but honestly just get the kaitaia fire.

How about a promo pressing of the Sex Pistols' God Save The Queen?

Hi Ebony and Paul

Will you be stocking toiletries as well? Like Faith in Nature, Jasons range - would love to not have to traipse over to Haelen Centre every time I run out of these :-)

Good luck, really looking forward to it - I'm sure you'll get lots of support

Hi. Normally we go a bit further afield to Planet Organic or Wholefoods Market to get certain items. A good range of herbal teas at a reasonable price would be good. Even sold as loose leaf.

This is soooooooo hugely exciting! I am always organising the week around trips to Mother Earth and the Haelan center.

Sorry for another request:
PLEEEEEEEAAAAAAASE get the refill gallons of Ecover or Bio D laundry liquid and conditioner, dish liquid and hand soap. This would make life so much more amazing!

I 2nd the peanut crusher and all the other wonderful ideas!!!

Thank you for opening this shop!
