Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Harringay post office
Many will know that Harringay post office was closed and subordinated into a two man counter in a local stationery store.
My wife needed to transact business there recently involving a large posting, many overseas. She arrived at lunchtime, whereupon one clerk immediately disappeared. Her business took the remaining clerk 15 minutes to process. The queue behind her was becoming increasingly restless and hostile and she felt threatened. Is this honestly the service we are now expected to put up by our Post Office.
Not long ago they relocated their sorting office from the Arena Park to miles away in Archway expecting punters to put up with long and expensive journeys to pick up any undelivered mail. I hate to think how inconvenienced many, possibly older, people who rely on the Post Office other services must feel.

The WG one is unbelievable... long queues ...I've complained to managers several times. I once queued there last year for a book of stamps (Can you believe). No they didn't have any they'd run out. I went to the book counter by the exit doors ... a staff member went and fetched me one. I got something on order from Amazon delivered to Harringay G Lanes PO for collection. One staff member on duty at the back. One at the counter ...not serving anyone... waited 10 mins....gave up... came back next day. Do not use them for Amazon collection.

So annoyed with the depot/sorting office moving to a totally different postcode and borough. It use to take me around 15 mins to get to the one in Harringay, and now 45 mins to the one in Archway. I just get all the post redelivered again, the sorting office is way too far to get to from home and work. Most posties (delivering to my home) are new and don't even attempt to deliver by shoving the red card through the letter box instead of knocking the door. Sorry to those losing their local post offices, it's difficult working around things like that.

The Post Office in Wood Green in WH Smith is open on a Sunday. I've been a couple of times. Not a soul there. It's that best kept secret. Oops. I've let it out of the bag. Damn.

The Crouch End one is open on Sundays as well. Definitely less busy than on week days. But I just weigh and measure my post at home, and pay for my postage online, print out my own labels, then I just have to pop them into the post box.
