Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Has anybody else in the area been advised to take out Chancel Repair liability insurance?

Just wondering. This is for the Gardens patch. I've read the farm that was there previously used to be owned by the Knights of St John, but I wonder whether any repair liability is connected to one of the nineteenth century churches in the area designed to serve the population then. Anyone know about this??

As far as I'm aware, certain properties can have obligations to repair nearby churches, but it's extremely unusual.

An article on a long-running legal case on this and general comments on this sort of situation here
I'm currently buying a small property near Chestnuts Park and following local searches have been advised by my solicitors to take out the insurance which will indemnify me for 25 years for about £60.
I bought a flat near Turnpike Lane station on the Tottenham side a few years back and was advised to take out the insurance. I don't know which church it relates to, though.
Interesting. Wonder if something's attached to the Tottenham parish territory. One more fee to add to the heap then!
