Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

As some of you may be aware - the old council plant nursery and garden centre in Wolves Lane was closed to the public last year. Since then exciting things have been happening - the site is being used by community co-ops, that are growing food (London Grown), running a veg box scheme (Crop Drop), growing cut flowers (Wolves Lane Cut Flowers), facilitating community outreach (The Ubele Initiative).  However, the site is generally in a poor state of repair and last winter there was no heat on site. There is rather uniquely, a palm house on site and many of the plants suffered greatly through cold.

Some of the site volunteers have set up a Crowdfund through the Mayor of London to raise money for solar pv panels.  The electricity generated by the panels will be used onsite to offset the cost of the gas to heat the palm house (which we hope will work this winter!). It will enable us to open up the Palm House and adjacent cafe to the public once again and to local schools.  You can make a pledge here

At present the site is open on Tuesdays (11am to 4pm) for volunteers and on Sundays (12-4pm) for people to visit the site.  Do come and see us!  Its a jungle in there...
