Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Immenent danger to NHS from proposed Integrated Care Providers - deadline for consultation 26/10.18

England is consulting on the contract for this new model of health and social care provision that threatens the break-up of the NHS into units run by less accountable units run by Integrated Care Providers (ends 26/0/18).

Each of these ‘business units’ would control spending of healthcare for populations of up to 500,000. These huge contracts will be eminently open to privatisation.

The ICPs will deliver the dangerous new restructuring plans which could see fragments of the NHS managed by non-NHS, non-statutory and therefore less accountable bodies.

Thanks Michelle, signed.

Whatever people’s view of private sector involvement in the NHS, a proposal such as this will lead to yet more of the “internal market” nonsense that has plagued the NHS for decades now.  As a very small example of how that impacts healthcare even now, my husband is being pushed back and forth as separate NHS budget holders deny that it’s their responsibility to fund some of the medication for his deteriorating eye condition.  A friend is having exactly the same battle over who pays for the treatment of illnesses he has related to type 1 diabetes.   Imagine yet more of that.

HiMichael

These are exactly the kind of examples that will only get worse when theres one private company running the Integrated Care Provider contract.  They will be given a set budget for a large population but it will up to them what treatments they provide. And there will be no accountability on those decisions

Please respond to the consultation -see below-and read more about these dangerous contracts. If you want I can send a sample letter

Integrated Care Providers Please Respond to NHS England’s consultation – deadline   Friday  26 October

NHS England is asking for responses to the consultation to be submitted by 26 October.    Please see NHSE’s integrated care providers consultation document. BUT note its very vague and does not address our concerns (details below)

There are three  ways you can respond to NHSE’s questions:

a/    online as detailed on the NHSE website....... https://www.engage.england.nhs.uk/consultation/proposed-contracting...

or

b/    by post: ICP Consultation Team, Area 2D NHS England, Skipton House, 80 London Rd, London SE1 6LH

or   Use the HKONP letter saying you oppose these plans -see HKONP sample letter -contact            rodwells1@hotmail.co.uk

or

c/    EMAIL the letter to  . england.icpconsultation@nhs.net

NB KONP You can refer back to HCT and KONP’s position on the proposals and make use of HCT’s sample answers as guidance.

You don’t have to restrict yourself to responding to the questions set by NHS England but can submit your own views. You may find some of the information presented here helpful in constructing your response. See Health Campaigns Together website :. https://www.healthcampaignstogether.com/pdf/suggested.pdf
