Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi all. We're looking to have our bathroom refurbished and I'd like to go down the local route if at all possible. Can anyone recommend any stores that will sell us bathroom furniture/tiling/flooring etc and/or any local tradespeople?

At the moment finding the right stuff to put in the bathroom is our priority, so would love to know of anywhere to find such a thing besides Wickes and Homebase.

Thanks all

I was very happy with THL plumbers' merchants in Hornsey High Street for the basic bath/basin type stuff. I don't know how much they keep in stock but you can order through a variety of catalogues and it seems to come in within a few days.

They were friendly and straightforward and suggested cheaper alternatives for some of the things I'd picked when I said I was doing it on a budget. They also had a very good delivery service (even in the worst of the snow) where they'd ring up in the morning and ask what time delivery was convenient. Mind you, I'm nearby, so this might not be universal.

THL is hopeless for browsing/choosing - always chaotic, cramped and pretty poor customer service (they'll just give you a bunch of catalogues). SO go to the fancy schmancy places first to choose what you want (e.g the one on Essex Road) and then go back to THL and order it from them, because their prices are far cheaper. You know you're onto a winner by the number of tradespeople using it. Definitely the best in the area.
Ooh I know the Essex Rd one you mean...the stuff of my bathroom dreams! That sounds like a splendid idea, thank you.

I got my bathroom from Chris Stevens at 545 - 561 Holloway Road, they are incredibly helpful.

Looks interesting and generally well-reviewed, thanks! Did they also give good advice on plumbers and other tradespeople to do the job?
I didn't ask as I already had a builder.  Though they let me go and buy stuff for him to collect later in his van.  I found a builder by emailing everyone I knew who had moved house recently and asking for suggestions then getting quotes from the two who most people had used.
There's a father and son team renovating the house next door to us at the moment. From what I've seen, they are working really hard, very diligently and to a good standard. They are very polite and friendly and seem trustworthy. I'll find out if they do bathrooms and pass on their details
That would be really kind - thank you!
I didn't catch them this morning - will do tomorrow

The guys working next door are called Frontiers Developments

Tel. 01438 821222.

I'm recommending them based only on what I've seen: they work hard, they seem to be doing a good job and they're friendly and polite. They are also nice to my cats.

That all sounds fab - thanks so much! Will give them a call once we've found some kit to put in the room :)

If you are still looking for a plumber, Charlie at CAJ Plumbing did ours, did a fab job and lives on the Gardens. He was punctual, polite and clean & tidy. He got some of our bits from THL.

His no is 07710043110.
