Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi everybody

This cat has been around our gardens at the beginning of Nightingale Lane. Priory Road, N8, for a couple of months and winter is coming, so we are keen to find out if he is homeless or just an opportunist…

He has no collar and is unneutered.

When he arrived, he was skinny, but is now quite rounded… well, he eats 4 -5 packets (preferably chicken or beef in gravy) (thank you) of food a day

We’ve found no trace on lost pet sites, Gumtree, etc

We have tried to get him into a cat carrier to see if he is microchipped, but he refuses, goes rigid and cries and then we cry and apologise and give him more food, of course...  He's very polite, no biting or scratching.

Any help gratefully received

Thanks

Fran

Well done for helping him! Best thing you can do for him is get him into a cat carrier - even if he’s not keen, hopefully you can do it. He’ll cry a bit, but shove him in, he’ll be fine. As you know, things are more urgent if a cat is not neutered as an unneutered cat causes homeless kittens to be born. Plus it’s not good for his health and he’s likely to get injuries from cat fights. Then you can get him to the vet to scan him to see if he’s microchipped. (Any responsible owner gets their cat neutered and microchipped).

It’s vital to get him neutered. The vet will also be be able to estimate his age and check his health and teeth. If no owner found and if you can’t give him a home, contact Stokey Cats and Dogs and they will try to help with foster care. Their email is stokeycatsndogs@gmail.com

Hi Justine and thanks for your concern

Have already agreed to borrow neighbours cat box, as door is bigger and this is quite a large, strong cat.  Stronger than me, anyway, but then I don't eat Felix pouches.

And thanks for Stokey Cats link, but if he turns out to have no home, I will take him in.  Have got price of neutering from vet around the corner - gulp!  Have had only females recently

Kind regards

You're a star!

(In case it helps, you can get free cat neutering under the London C4 scheme)

Hi there Justine

Thanks for the link, will investigate.

And I'm not a star - just well trained by countless cats over the years.  I know my place...

Kind regards
