What's wrong with the cat?

she wouldnt lower herself into getting into a fight!

Hi Lizzie

On the basis of what you've said I wouldn't call out the pest control just yet. I think Stuart is right, just the sight and perhaps smell of a cat is likely to be enough. You could bait a trap or 2 that can be cheaply purchased from hardware or DIY stores. It's also worth checking for and blocking any small gaps. Good luck but I wouldn't worry too much at this stage.

Nearly every year my cats get excited about certain areas of skirting board but only rarely do mice actually make an appearance.  If they do, then the same cats act as a marvellous free pest control service, dealing with the problem pdq.  I just think it is a fact of life in the Victorian houses of our locality.  As long as you aren't seeing droppings I wouldn't worry.

I have the same problem at the moment.

Here is a website that might help

I prefer the peppermint as it is a deterrent rather than a killer!

these websites are really interesting, thank you for sharing them!

As mentioned on other posts mice can be a persistent problem in older properties and even more so if they are terraced. Contrary to popular belief mice do not have the same scent library as humans and do not associate a certain scent or smell with a predator that might be more dangerous than another. All it tells them is "there is something else living in this environment, it might be predatory - I need to be careful" - full stop!

I have seen mice on several occasion taking food from both cat & dog bowls whilst the animal itself is fast asleep nearby.

Mice require little more than the equivalent of 4 grains of rice per day to survive. If they can find in excess of this they cash it for leaner times. Once mice are in any crumbs, food spillages or dirty plates left on the side over night make a great feast as do insecure food waste bins.

The initial answer here in that case is "Don't give em an easy ride"! Clear up and secure ALL foods in airtight plastic or metal containers.

If you need more help or want to put an end to your mouse problem more abruptly then we offer a rodent exclusion procedure that is both tried & tested, won't break the bank and is guaranteed.

David 'did' our place several years ago, and it has stayed done. All other pest controllers charge you money to put poison down, which you can do yourself for nothing. David does it properly.

Don't be dispirited - you don't have to live with mice, even in Harringay.
