Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

45 minutes to get through this morning. no appointments left. then (when I'll and feeling vulnerable) having to deal with call back from battle-axe nurse/ gatekeeper - I know when I need to see a doctor. she won't listen, talks over me in dismissive contemptuous tones. she knows better. ask for suggestions where is a drop in or should I go to A&E - this is slapped down in sneery tone.

My GP there (who is nice) is on long term sick. I need to find another practice. anywhere as long as not located in Umfreville Road. I have put in a formal complaint to NHS England - they were very helpful and will call the practice to negotiate this time. but I haven't the energy to keep dealing with this c£#$p...

for anyone else who needs to complain - the number for NHS England is 0300 311 2233
My GP is fine. DR Ansari, 618 Green Lanes. Single GP practice. Reception staff are very nice and no problem getting appointments. My only complaint is they don't take repeat prescription requests over the phone, you have to go in to request them, or drop a note through the door if out of hours. But I put up with that, even though I live 20 mins walk away, as Dr Ansari is so much nicer/ better than my previous GP.
I am with the said practice and the service that I receive is none so much so I made a complaint to the manager of the practice.
I am signed up to the minor ailment scheme where upon I use the scheme and my local chemist is fantastic and who also drops in my repeat prescription for me so I don't have to have any need to visit the said practice as for a relative of mine who is basically in the said practice every five minutes practically.

Does the chemist charge for that?

Thanks

Minor Ailment Scheme to be signed up to is no charge.

I've recently had the same experience of being unable to get an appointment at this practice. Had to go in person to sort something out. I'll also ring the number. I've already filled in a feedback note and put it in their suggestion box. The doctors and some of the receptionists can be lovely, but others have been so rude. Those staff members need to change what they do as they obviously are lacking in both social skills and empathy. They are in the wrong job. .

Don't know if it's in your catchment area but we like JS Medical Practice on Phillip Lane. All the staff we have dealt with so far has been really nice and helpful and they have an online booking system too. Good luck!

I have been with this practise for many, many years and have to agree I've never known it so bad. The nurse who you refer to is awful, manners & attitude just stink, I also reported her and was told yes we are all aware of have ghastly she is ( their words) and were looking into it, im hoping our regular GP does return as I know she would not be happy with the number of complaints that have risen. The appointment system has also changed and I've been told that there are no dates left now until May???

I used to be registered at Umfreville too and thought the doctors were absolutely brilliant. Always helpful and very knowledgeable -particularly Dr Haas, Dr Brothers and Dr Thomas. It was a really difficult decision to leave but I couldnt take the stress of having to negotiate the awful triage nurse to get an emergency appointment. I have a small child who gets ill a lot and ended up having to use A&E and walk in centres because she would always send us away. That nurse seems to dislike people and her job and it is such a shame she has been allowed to spoil what is essentially a really good (albeit stretched) surgery with committed healthcare professionals. I have seen her being really unpleasant to elderly people for whom English is a foreign language as well as everyone else- I dont understand why she has been left in charge of triage with such a terrible approach towards vulnerable, ill people

Now I travel 45mins-1 hr on the bus with my son to crouch end instead and go to a surgery there. Not living in fear of the triage nurse at Umfreville has seriously improved the quality of our lives even if we now have to spend money and time on the journey there and back.

Which practice in Crouch End did you transfer to.  I ask as the two largest practices merged and Queenswood, to my surprise cover a patch over to Green Lanes.  Big area.  Doctors and staff are good but waiting time for an appointment can be long.

Supporting Nursing and FRront of House staf also generally good.  Somewhere on their web site is a 'How to get there' info page, but it is not in the right place.  But it is walkable from Ally Pally entrance by Park Road, but from Umfreville Rd it is possibly easer to walk the other way and get the W5.

Vale Practice. It has been really good so far. Very kind to my young son who always gets seen on the same day when needed and  the doctors are all very helpful and will call you back if you ask.
