Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

We rescued several original internal doors from a house on our street (built c.1890) that was being 'renovated (i.e. gutted). We don't think we are going to use them all so will probably have a number to sell. I will post dimensions and photos later this week but just checking initially how much interest there is from HoLers.

There are three or four with 4 panels, and another four with panels removed and replaced with 50s/60s style glass. They all need some treatment - some were rather roughly removed from their hinges - but the wood seems to be sound and they can be trimmed to size. Dipping and stripping apparently costs about £15 each.

Suggest around £40 each. Let me know if interested. Would need to collect from Crouch End.

bit cheeky that, isn't it??

obtained (rescued) for nothing, but offering them for £40ea??

Well you may think that. If you discount my taking time off work, climbing in and out of a skip, being up to my eyes in dust and rubble trying to get them off their hinges with a screwdriver before they were ripped off by the developers who were literally demolishing walls and ceilings around me, carrying them up the hill...

I've given several decent items away on here for free, this time I'm hoping to try and recoup some money to help cover the cost of doing up the doors we are keeping, that's all.

Gotta say, Ed that I don't have a problem with it.  As long as an object is honestly come by, I'm not sure if I care whether it was bought with hard earned, found on a skip, received as a present, bought with lottery winnings, inherited wealth, or whatever. There's no deceit here. Emma's been quite honest about where the doors have come from. Good luck to her. If they're good doors, a good price and you need one/some, I'd say go for it.

Thanks for that Hugh. We were hoping to use most of the doors but the sizes are wrong. I rarely sell things, and in fact have given some of the doors to our neighbour whose house is the same as the one they came from. If nobody wants them, that's fair enough.

Might be interested in the ones with panels - depending on size.
Hi Emma- yes I am very interested as we need to replace 3 doors in our Stroud Green flat. Happy to pay as the alternative was buying off eBay or similar. Fingers crossed re dimensions!
I'd potentially be interested but would need to see pictures when you can.

Could be interested. Would like to see pictures first.

Ok here are some photos and dimensions (all in inches). I've taken high resolution photos so details should be visible.

(all 1.25" deep)

Three with 4 panels:

Doors 1&2: Two at 30W x 78H (NB one of these has some damage to the corner/edge where it was ripped off its hinges, but could be repaired) - P1070532

Door 3: One at 28 x 75.5 inches - P1070527

More photos (too big to put them on in one post)

And six with glass which may not be worth as much - though the glass can be replaced

Half glazed:

Doors 4,5,6: One at 31.75 x 79.25, one at 31.5 x 79.75, one at 28 x 76 - ridged glass (all look the same) - P1070522

Door 7: One at 27.75 x 75.5 - spotty glass - P1070526

Full glazed:

Doors 8&9: One at 30 x 77, one at 30 x 78 (both look the same) - P1070525

I believe all can be adjusted to fit either by trimming or adding - it's just a job too far for us! If you're interested add me as a connection and let me know what you think.

We need to move them asap this week. Emma

We've got a couple of these left if anyone's interested - the half glazed doors numbers 6 & 7.
