The song we will be learning is The March Of The Women, the rousing suffragette anthem.
It will be led by Crouch Ends Community choir "Songworks" Director, Denise Dobson (that's me!) and I will be conducting (with my toothbrush*) in full suffragette regalia!
The song was written by suffragette and composer Ethel Smyth and was famously performed at the prison in 1912 by over 100 suffragettes as they exercised in the yard with Ethel conducting from her cell window with her *toothbrush!
The song needs singing again at Holloway. And what better day than International Womens Day. A joyful event to celebrate the indomitable spirit of these incredible women.
The Ham and High have featured us on page 3 (the irony!!) http://bit.ly/1ig32fq
Event registration is here http://bit.ly/1bGbZvu or just turn up at 1pm.
