Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi,

We woke up this morning to various flashing clocks which would suggest that there was a power cut which ended around 2.15/2.30 or so.

From other lists we are seeing that this is something that covered quite a wide area including parts of the Gardens & ladder - does anyone have any more info?

Thanks,

Michael

I live off St Ann's and was woken up three times last night by my bedside light coming on of its own volition (I didn't note the times). I thought it had just gone wrong until finding the oven/microwave clocks blinking "00.00" when I got up this morning, so I assume there was some kind of power surge as the supply cut out and then came back on. It's a bit scary really, but this particular lamp has a touch switch in the base rather than a normal on/off on the cable, so maybe works differently from one that's isolated from the mains. Relieved that the computer came on as normal later on. Haven't seen an explanation anywhere; maybe the torrential rain affected the supply?

We are on Lausanne Road and had no power at 6 am but it came back shortly after. However, when the window cleaner came at 8.15 he said that some of the neighbouring roads had no power. We had a massive power cut last Friday evening.

I've identified some information on the UK Power Networks site; as far as I can tell it seems to be this incident:

https://www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/power-cut/map?incidentid=INCD-122...

"A piece of network equipment had a fault on our high voltage electricity network, causing an area wide power cut.

This power cut was reported at: 02:39 on 22 Nov 2019"

At this moment the site says that the power has only just been returned at 17.55, but a message that was there 10 minutes ago talked about a temporary generator being used (maybe this is no longer necessary)

At 17.35 there was a large generator on a flatbed truck humming loudly at the end of Hampden/Willoughby by Duckett’s Common and three or four UK Power Networks vans parked up. We lost power on Hampden Rd until about 11.30 this morning, and also Virgin Media total outage which when i left for work was still ongoing. I hope the generator does the job until the main fault is fixed.

We're on Sydney and lost power at 2.30am. We didn't get it back until 12.30pm and that was only because the emergency generator was brought in on the flatbed truck - according to UK Power Network, the main fault is at the sub-station on Ducketts Common and it's so complex it can't be easily fixed. We then lost power again at 2.30pm when the emergency generator failed! This outage went on until 5.30pm, so we've had 15 hours in total so far without power (pretty much going to have to throw away entire contents of freezer now!). I feel sorry for anyone living near the generator as it is SO loud, but us residents who've been without power all day thank you for putting up with it!

Hi

Thank you very much with the info, I did not noticed about the power cut apart of the room felt cold this morning. Now I know why my boiler was not working when back home from work.  After checking the boiler, noticed the clock/timer settings gone haywire and has to reset it.

I’m on lausanne- ducketts end. We lost power at 2.30am Friday. Got it back for half an hour at about 1 Friday from the emergency generator on willoughby rd. Then it failed and didn’t get going again until about 6pm. All good now but it’s from the emergency one so not sure if the actual problem in the substation is sortable soon. Some others at the other end lost it at the same time but got it back at 6am Friday and then lost it later so must be in a different supply. Here’s hoping for a shower in the morning!!!

We've woken up to the power being connected, so yes, jumping in the shower now! But we can hear the temporary generator from here, so the noise must be horrendous if you live on Willoughby. I spoke to someone at UK Power Networks yesterday and they said they plan to work through the weekend to fix the original fault, so let's hope they keep to their word.
