Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi !

I've got family from France, coming over for the Easter weekend. I'd like to bring them in a pub with their 2 children. Anywhere to recommend from finsbury Park to Alexandra palace ?

I went to the really brand new great northern railway tavern. I asked for a Half a Guinness and they couldn't give me either a Guinness or a half pint. Only thirds or two thirds of some other stout, it's gone a bit annoyingly hipster. Food was all small portions. . £6 worth of chicken drumsticks gets you four very small drumsticks etc. They have a fire pit in the back though so that might be nice on a summers evening.

Shame the food and drink wasn't what was wanted. Shant eat there again, no one was impressed. The big request for no garlic because of an allergy also came back with a garlic source. Whilst the staff are new, careful what you eat.

They made a nice upgrade to the gin palace feel though. However the loss of the music room at the back is a shame. Now with giant seats in the middle which look wrong for the space.

My friend said, it's become the place you would take your parents, not your mates so much. Shame they worked hard to make it lovely too.

I really liked the new GNRT, food from the bbq out the back was good, range of beers excellent, well refurbished throughout.

I thought the old "music room" as you put it was a detriment and a bit sad looking, so it was good to actually be able to use it now. The revamped garden area is really nice too, though I don't like the fire pit as you come home reeking of smoke. Can't comment on the kitchen food but if it's like you say that's a shame, hate it when things like wings are expensive, it really doesnt take much cost/effort to make wings.

Overall definitely will be going back

The Maynard Park Road and its local to Crouch end shops is best bet.
