Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Yesterday they took the compost and garden waste, but did not empty the green bin, nor those of my neighbours. Have called Veolia today and they say it will be done within the next day or so, but not really good enough and no explanation or apology- also I could not request that they empty other peoples' bins so we each have to put in a separate call.

Cavendish too - for the fourth time since Veolia took over

This has been happening to me (Conway Rd) since the fortnightly collections started. They seem to empty either recycling OR landfil each week. I complained last week and they said they would come back for the recycling, but didn't and it was completely overflowing by the next Wednesday. However yesterday they took everything.

We have an issue (Canning Crescent) where they take the recycling, but don't take the food waste. This has been happening for the past two collections and they just move it to one side. We've complained, but it appears to fall on deaf ears.

yes, the moving the food waste bin to one side is an odd one. They sometimes do that with mine and just leave it unemptied. Why? Do they think they arent going to have enough room for it all as more people recycling- which is the whole idea of bi-weekly non recycleable stuff.

They need to get their act together otherwise people will start throwing it all together in the same bin and not bothering to separate out the different things. Very disappointing that so many people having similar problems.

In response to some of the comments here; the green recycling bins are emptied by one truck with the food and garden waste emptied by another (for the latter, they will often wheel a wheelie bin down the street and empty from each home whilst the truck waits ahead). This would explain why the green recycling guys put the food waste bin to one side - it's not their job to empty that bin. That of course doesn't excuse the other truck for missed collections.

I have had many instances of this.  The service is very variable and one has to keep complaining about it but I do have to say this becomes rather monotonous!

I have taken to copying my local Councillor into the emails in the hope that she will challenge the Council about the contract standards and any monitoring they are supposed to be doing to ensure it is satisfactory.

I have also taken to putting both food and garden waste containers in such a position that the staff have to physically move them before they can get to the wheelie bin.  This is in the hope that by doing so they will have a) the wit to notice they are there and b) that they need emptying.

You will find the name of your Councillor on the Council website
