Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anyone have any feedback about the nursery? I'm particularly interested in the approach to learning (literacy and numeracy), the quality of teaching and the pastoral care. Of course, the rowing and rugby programmes are also important.

Literacy and numeracy doesn't yet come into it - not at nursery school age (3-4 years old)  And rowing & rugby programmes...?  Neither are advisable until bones are bigger and stronger, and even then they're still relatively dangerous until they reach at least double figures.   Methinks you need to look at the Key Stage and Early Years Learning info on the Families page at Haringey Council.

A child that was at my son's nursery (which is fantastic BTW - Little Jewels in Cavendish Rd) moved to the SH Nursery in the vain hope that it might help get a place in the infants school (which it didn't).  Their experience was that they preferred the LJ nursery, with the wonderful carers/manager there, and due to the smaller nos. of children (approx 25-30) all aged 1-5 years, whereas in school, they were in a single age class, in uniforms, and the classes weren't as fun/stimulating.  Already way too "schooly"!

"In uniforms"? The infant school doesn't have uniforms, let alone the nursery.

I stand corrected!  I'd got that wrong.

Jokes aside, does anyone else have their child starting at the nursery in September 2012? We can't attend the rescheduled information day and I haven't had any success getting any more information on how the nursery runs etc. They couldn't even advise the starting date! I'd be grateful for any information if you are able to attend the rescheduled 'meeting' - I think it's supposed to be on the 13th of July.
