Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Enfield Council seeks to introduce a spitting ban - http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/07/19/enfield-spitting-ban_n_3...

Haringey Council, please take note.

I suggest £1000 per offence. But the coffers could also be boosted through some other fines as well:

-£500 for dropping a cigarette butt or other litter

-£100 for what the Americans call 'jay-walking' which contributes to the slowing of traffic along Green Lanes (and the resulting congestion, pollution and impact on health of residents)

-£1000 for fly-tipping

- £1000 for 'dog fouling' (which no self-respecting canine would endure) and £2000 for letting your dog crap in the Passage

- £1000 and fifty lashes for feeding the pigeons

- seizure of all worldly goods and summary execution on Duckett's Common for defecating in public places

Other suggestions welcome.

Can we add a fine of £500 + public ridicule for the traders on GL who do not clear up rubbish directly attributable to their business, or keep their bins under control- be it for bits of plastic that escape their bins, stray packaging at the front of their shop, or bins kept for days on end on public highways or footpaths.

Oh, and double that for the muppets who actively throw rubbish into the street (as I once saw one trader do, as he casually opened his door, wanged out the rubbish into the middle of the footpath, turned his back and casually went back into his shop!).

Wow. When I was helping out at Nest, we swept outside the shop daily, paying particular attention to picking the sweet wrappers out of the flower planters.  Needless to say all of the sweepings went into the bin.

The idea is to make the entrance to the store look inviting for customers.  That other shopkeepers don't do the same mystifies me.

I would add £5,000 for urinating anywhere other than in a toilet (unless you're under the age of 8)
