Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi

I am looking into trying to source a stair lift for my elderly mother and there seems to be so many companies out there.  Does anyone have any recommendations on either buying a new/ reconditioned stair lift or if hiring one is a better alternative?

Thank you

Caroline

My parents had one. They got an Acorn, reconditioned. I think it broke down once, the battery wore out. When they died we sold it for about £150.

When I had an operation on my legs about 10years ago, I hired a stair lift from a firm in Walthamstow. It was about £40 a month I think. Even in the long-term that's got to be better than buying, surely?

I think my parents will have paid less than £2k for theirs, I guess it depends on how long you envisage needing it, as the resale value is pretty low.

You can get a stairlift supplied by Social Services if assessed as eligible.

Thank you all for your suggestions, I will check them out.
