Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Stroud Green WInter Fair - 22nd November, Stapleton Tavern, Crouch Hill

Stroud Green Women’s Institute will be holding their first ever WInter Fair on Saturday 22 November at the Stapleton Tavern on Crouch Hill. The fair – in keeping with the spirit of the WI – will feature the work of local talented artists and craft experts, with homemade produce to tempt Christmas shoppers. And it’s in aid of local charity Open Door, so you can shop guilt free, knowing you’re making a difference.

There will be a great variety of stalls including handmade coloured glass gifts and decorations by Virle Archer, works from print artists Tessa Galloway and Anna Robertson, laser cut wood jewellery by Bough To Beauty, as well as crochet blankets and hand-stitched rag dolls.

For children there will be a Christmas decorations workshop, while their parents can place orders for beautiful homemade Christmas wreaths.

There will also be a raffle with a prize list so long it should be an event in itself!! Here is just a little taster but the full list is available on our website (www.stroudgreenwi.co.uk).

  • Two tickets to a production of your choice at Park Theatre
  • £50 voucher for Ocado
  • A bottle of Sipsmith gin
  • A bottle of Vestal vodka
  • 1/2 kilo of ice cream or sorbet from Riley, Crouch End
  • Signed pennant from Tottenham Hotspur
  • A Christmas pudding from Dunn’s bakery, Crouch End
  • A free bicycle service from Micycle, Stroud Green
  • Tea/coffee & cake for two from The Haberdashery, Crouch End
  • A beautiful orchid from Bud flower shop
  • Box of goodies from The Deli at 80, Stroud Green
  • Goody bag of art materials from Jackson’s Art Supplies, Hackney
  • A free off-peak treatment from Integrated Body Dynamics, Stroud Green
  • Free refreshments for a family visiting Pickled Pepper Books, Crouch End
  • £10 gift voucher from The Concept interiors shop, Stroud Green

The Stapleton Tavern has generously donated their grand Chandelier room for the occasion and will be giving a donation for each glass of mulled wine or spiced apple juice sold. And if you’re peckish you won’t want to miss the WI’s preserves or, of course, their infamous cakes. There’s something for everyone.

All profits from the day will go to Open Door – a charity giving free psychotherapy and counselling to young people in Haringey. Just £30 can fund an hour of a therapist’s time but the charity currently has nearly 100 young people waiting to get the help they desperately need.

Don't forget to tell others about it or even better bring them along!
