Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I love to grow sunflowers but this year's crop has been a little disappointing. The few that I grew from seed that survived the seedling stage are quite weedy and not very tall. So I was delighted to see that my fellow Warham street gardener who grows at the Wightman Road end has raised a lovely crop in the old tree pit that he 'looks after' outside his own delightful little corner.

How's your sunflower crop this year?

How about sharing your pictures of sunflowers in street, front or back gardens below.

There are some corkers on Endymion Road
Great pictures. One of the plants I picked up from the South Harringay school fair is nearly two metres tall, will try to take a decent photo.

Ooh, That may have been one of the seedlings me and the boy grew and donated to the plant stall. If it is, your sunflower has done much better than the ones that I kept back (admittedly the not so sellable ones). One of mine has managed to get to about a metre high and I'm waiting for it to flower. I've done better in the past :)

Two metres tall! There's a few in the Frobisher planters that came from the South Harringay School fair plant stall, but they're just little ones so far:

This is my 2 metre one - you can't really see it in this photo but the petals are really odd, quite curly. I'll keep some seeds and see if next year's crop are as tall!

Thank you for posting the lovely photos of my sunflowers and my own made little gardens in the front and back of my property!! i take pride in looking after my crops all year round.. A lot of children pass by and take photos along with passing traffic.. However unfortunately there are the odd bunch of disrespectful people that like to cut them as they go past for no reason..

Michael

Michael, your guerilla sunflowers and the rest of your garden give me much pleasure as I pass by, thank you. I don't understand why people have to cut the flowers either but I think its a case of 'out planting' them and just keeping going until maybe they appreciate it too.

Michael, more thanks from me - I've been admiring your sunflowers for a long time, it's good to know who looks after them so well.

Nice to chat to you today Michael. Here's a couple of photos of your sunflowers taken today

Michael always makes the top end of Warham look worderful and doesn't give in even in the face of vandals (and some of these come in the form of Haringey council with their weed sprayer!)

Liz, mine grew from the seeds you gave me.  The tallest is over 10 feet but the flowers are nothing special compared with yours.  What did you give them?

Mine didn't survive the seedling stage!  I love guerilla tree pit plantings.
