Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I haven't lived in Harringay for over twenty years. I'm N17. Spent 5 years on that plot in the mid 90s. top of st anns rd by the Salisbury. Oh the Salisbury then :-) :-) :-)  saw more than a few people "get it" in there :-) :-)  even over stupid stull like pool.  A lot of "work" got done in that boozer.    But the queens head though.  Pwoppa boozer back then when the white man villans were running it and im a "brother!) no problems with them man then, al koooool.  Can remember Loads" of business in the pool room out the back getting done.   ahhh memories. I  remember when the greeks used to run green lanes .they'd buy anything no questions asked. Little greek football club cafes on the strip with pool tables and space invader machines. Arrrr green lanes.   Oh yeah.  The manor house booozer too.   I could tell you some stories :-)  had some fun times there.    I know a few couples that fell in love in the queens head and are still together. Wisely never married :-) :-)

Burn some herbs. sip some Guinness. play some pool. (live band in the back ground) and chill (the queens head then :-)

Money changing hands on the pool tables too.:-)  was mainly nice happy tables though. Man with his lady and that. Or girls with their girls. Lads with the lads. 12 tables I think.     Darkish in there. lighting coming from the tables. Sleezy happy vibes :-)

Sounds like you've got the basis for a great book or TV show, make sure you get those stories written down or recorded.  Did get to the Queens Head around 2006, but only in the day/ eve to watch football.  Yes, it was a proper old school boozer. Heard a lot of stories about the Salisbury back in the 80s, and I think I prefer it in its current phase.   Goes with being older and more sensible.  I live near the Black Boy and what was the Silver Lady,  they were "pwopa nawty"from the stories I've heard.

The black boy" the old chimney sweeps pub. Black boy lane lane is called that because of it. from ditty boys cleaning chimneys   the pub you're talking about though is the fox pub (became the silver lady). (We used to play our sound system in there.  Early 80s  resident spot. THE MIGHTY HEAVY WEIGHT SOUND SYSTEM.  .we had sound systems coming from all over to play us.  Another big TOTTENHAM sound FAT MAN TOO.   We played all over Haringey. Trojan broad lane. Conservative hall Tottenham blane.drayton school regal ball room.   Wooden bridge plus more.    Could tell you some more stories.  Especially when we used to bring the sound over to south London.   Resident at the bouncing ball catford.  Then east. Dalston. Sir George q bees.  We carried the swing for TOTTENHAM.   Unity sound too.  Body music on side too. N

Remember the shady grove club Bruce grove? The Georgian listen building next to our only blue plack?  We had that too.    Coooool vibes

Watch the film babylon.  That was us :-) :-)

Wow, didn't know that, but My manor was NW London, Lord Koos , Count Sputnick.  Next year come to the Hackney Carnival, great day out this year.  Nice sound at the Eldica record shop, mellow vibes.

It's gone from iplayer for the moment but this episode of the series 'Inside The Queens Head' takes places at the aforementioned pub. There is a bit of an off during the evening and some poor lad ends up spilling blood https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00t3vjs
