Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Come across any unusual eruptions of unconfined Joy, Excitement and Goodwill to All lately to cheer up our wintry existence ? Jot them here so we all can share. I'll kick off with two shining samples of seasonal tinsel:

Leader Claire Kober found herself thrilled and excited this week by Mayor Boris's throwing his weight behind Spurs remaining forever "in the heart of Tottenham". "Spurs belong in Tottenham and should stay in Tottenham," said Kober (32) who stays in Muswell Hill but plays her home games away in Stratford Seven Sisters.

She was joined in hailing Mayor Johnson's go-ahead for Spurs' plans by Tottenham MP David Lammy . Speaking from his home on Highgate Borders, Lammy (38) greeted as "great news" the Mayor's support for Tottenham Hotspur staying where they belong "in the heart of Tottenham".

You forget that in a modern family household the husband is 50% of the vote, in both cases. In David's case I certainly would not call Stroud Green Highgate borders and for goodness sake, he's going great guns for Tottenham since being re-elected. Time to cut him some slack, no?
Time to cut him some slack

As someone on last night's Question Time asked, 'does that mean give him enough rope'?
What do you have to say to my comment about modern families and the 50% rule? I get to decide where dinner is (51%) I get to decide where my kids go to school (49%).

You are much wittier and entertaining than the person you have quoted.
Sorry John, I missed out the 50% rule, probably because I've never had to apply it. I suppose the Jeremy Corbyn nuclear option is a bit of a last resort for a politician.

But any more shimmering examples of seasonal tinsel for the Glad Tidings lists ?
Jeremy Corbyn no longer lives in Harringay either. Bah humbug.
I know Jeremy used live on your road, but I'm sure he's lived in his constituency, Islington North, for quite a while - certainly at the time he wanted to send his son to Holloway Boys. Afraid the 50% rule blew up in his face.

Oh yes, he has certainly lived in Islington North for years - he used to live near Hornsey Lane, then after the schooling thing, and the split with Claudia he moved - as it happens further into Islington North.

Right David - I taught at the Highgate end of Hornsey Lane (Aloysius') for 25 years and certainly for my last decade there (-2003) Jeremy was our constant champion, 'Prize-Presenter' & Guest speaker every June/July. A man with no hangups about "State" v "Faith" schools, (Private Independents are beasts of a different stripe) - and highly respected by all of us whatever our politics.
