This is happening in South Norwood (the other side of London) as stated on the poster.

Just in case anyone thinks it is happening here, as the message in red at the top would suggest.

Sadly, if you follow SNARL's Facebook page, it has spread in other areas, including  ours :( http://www.harringayonline.com/forum/topics/cat-possibly-killed-del...

To get this in perspective, this one incident in Haringey could have been a dog or fox attack. I love cats and am concerned for all animal welfare, but I don't think scaremongering helps anyone.
It's not scaremongering. It's helping raise awareness. Many cases in the past, people may have thought it was foxes or a car fatality. But autopsies on the bodies that were retrieved have shown they were killed with a bladed instrument.
There has been a suspected case in nearby Finchley in early February, Tottenham over the weekend and now potentially the one on this forum.last weekend

This person clearly moves around so I see no harm in raising awareness.

"autopsies on the bodies that were retrieved have shown they were killed with a bladed instrument".  In the Croydon area, yes.

But in the Finchley/Tottenham/N22 incidents too?

The Evening Standard report (http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/two-cats-found-dead-believed-t...) quotes Boudicca Rising from SNARL saying she could 'guarantee' the Tottenham Hale case was linked. Presumably this is because of something distinctive about the way the cats are dismembered or mutilated. Nothing mentioned about Finchley or N22.

Both Finchley and Tottenham are with vets/RSPCA for autopsy.

Both cats had similarities to South London killings which make it suspicious.

N22 unknown . Not reported to them Have asked Liz to get in contact . Which was what my post was trying to highlight.

i.e. Please contact them so they can get the body to their  and /or RSPCA vets.

"Suspected" "potential" cases nearby. This poster is about Croydon. It doesn't "clearly" state that anything is going on here of this scale or type of incident or that it is the same person! You are just joining the dots. I know you care about animals but until proof is obtained by the police then this IS scaremongering.

It really is not scaremongering, I am sorry to say. I saw Liz who started the above tread just after she saw the cat( the one I posted earlier in my comment).  She was shaken. The idea to start the tread here was mine, to raise awareness. She didn't want to put details, as it was too gruesome, but it definitely wasn't a fox or a dog attack.

I'm not saying Liz wasn't upset, I would have been horrified to see a dead cat, but that doesn't mean it has anything to do with other attacks in London, and you are scaremongering by linking it to the very high profile Croydon attacks and saying it's the same person and by posting their poster here you are giving the impression it is happening here. You do not know that, and there's nothing to suggest it is., Providing misleading information on a community website does not help anyone.

Hi

I have had confirm from SNARL today that I can post that the Finchley cat Maverick is now confirmed as linked by post mortem and was definitely killed by a human.

The same vet has been conducting all the pm.

The Tottenham and Edgware cats are too soon to tell as bodies were only obtained this weekend. (when I posted this)  but their wounds and other indications are almost certain they were not a fox or RTA.

SNARL  are working closely with the police on all these cases to appease any concerns you have on police involvement. You can confirm this with the police if you wish. The RSPCA are now onboard too.

HI Violet

SNARL would really like to hear form Liz. I have tried to contact her and understand she may be shaken but if she could supply the police ref and details from council. IfThis will help SNARL as if  they still have the body they were checking for a chip this could really help. Please ask her to contact them on the numbers above. Or PM means I can pass on. They would like to rule this out, but until they have more details, it's unfortunately a ? case.
