Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

URGENT appeal from SNARL: Cats going missing, being injured and killed in London area

As most people are now aware, there have been a number of victims of the person killing cats and other animals including rabbits and foxes in the greater London area. We are working with the police to identify the culprit/s and we strongly advise you to keep your cats in 24/7 if possible, or only let them out under supervision and certainly keep them in overnight.

PLEASE KEEP THIS LEAFLET SAFE SO THAT YOU WILL KNOW WHAT TO DO:

If you see anyone behaving suspiciously with a cat, please call 999 (this advice comes directly from the police) immediately and report it. Likewise if you see anyone with a knife or bladed weapon, dial 999.

If you see any domestic or wild animals who have been injured or found dead with: slashed neck/ decapitation, slashed belly, leg and/or tail removed or any other injury which looks like it is a knife wound, please contact us on 07961 030064 or 07957 830 490 immediately. Please connect with us via our Facebook Page: South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty SNARL to stay informed about what is happening, and to help us to spread the word.

Please also report the finding to the police either by calling 999 if you are at the scene or 101 if it is some time since you saw/ found the body and/or parts.

It is ABSOLUTELY VITAL that the animal is safeguarded and we will come out, even if it is after hours to collect any body and/or body parts for examination by the vet working on this case. If the animal is still alive please take him or her straight to a vet for treatment and call us as soon as you can.

Kill all the humans. Leave the world to Cats.

Seriously folks, this is rubbish. http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/1000-knife-crime-victims-in-lo...

In the UK cats kill an estimated 55 million birds every year and dog attacks have nearly doubled and hospitalised nearly 8000 people last year (not counting the probable thousands of unreported attacks and self-treated injuries). Although abuse of such animals is abominable, it does not surprise me that lone psychos take it on themselves to inflict such cruelty.

HI all

Irrespective of the area, Croydon or here, the message is the same.  This is what the leaflet is aiming to do.
If you find an animal with what looks like deliberate or knife wounds then please contact SNARL  on the numbers above
Without the body they can't confirm or rule out anything.

So, no the N22 case is not confirmed, as SNARL have been unable to get the body or any further information.

The bodies from Finchley and Tottenham are with vets for post mortem.

However, given the case in Tottenham, I  thought it appropriate to post in a local/ Haringey forum.

Apologies if some are offended by this and some feel this is scaremongering. I really didn't think there was harm in raising awareness.

Also, the  suspected cases are not just in Croydon. They extend all over South London. And few now outside the South London area. As more come to light it may rule out some or highlight areas; and more importantly hopefully result in some information that can help the police.

Without the communities help, the will be suspected. Many have been confirmed due to awareness.

Thanks all

That poster clearly states: Greater London area. We all know this has been going on in and around Croydon, that doesn't mean it will remain confined to that area. I expect everyone that saw Liz's post about the dead cat and knew about the South London incidents had a small moment of dread that it would turn out to be something similar. Whether involving SNARL indicates or eliminates a link to other killings, it's worth knowing. Decrying it as scaremongering and over using quote marks isn't helpful when the purpose of the thread is just to alert people that there is an investigation underway and how best to report it, should they be unlucky enough to see something similar.

Thank you for advertising this on HoL, Ursula.
I've been in touch with SNARL and will be helping to distribute leaflets in our area.
Hopefully this thread will reach other caring people who actually want to help, as well as alert us as to who aren't such cat lovers in our area.

Thank you so much for helping. Any help in North London is greatly appreciated

If you read the leaflet Ursula has posted it's asking people to keep their eyes open for these kinds of killings - I don't think that's scare mongering. The fact that the Police have taken an interest due to what seems the ritualistic nature of these animal mutilations would indicate to me that they have identified that what is happening is of concern to them. The main focus is South Norwood at the moment but there is no reason this person (or persons) won't widen the area they are operating in, especially as the Police and residents in the current area are alert and watchful, making it less easy to carry out mutilations.
Thank you. Yes my post was about raising awareness.
Unfortunately the case in Tottenham last weekend has the hallmarks of the South London mutilations :(

Hello
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I have two cats that go out in the day via a cat flap but are kept in at night. In order to protect our pets it would be helpful to know the following.
1. Is this happening at night ?
2. Is this person catching these animals in the street or breaking into gardens ? (As you mentioned rabbits )
3. Are foxes being trapped in some way or poisioned , As getting near a fox to harm it is unlikely

Also can posters be put up in our area warning people of this ?

And just for people who think this is something not to be bothered with , nearly every case of studies of people who have become mass murderers started out injuring and killing animals . Let's hope he doesn't become bored with animals and move onto people !
Let's hope they catch him, before he does .

Hi A,
Please see Ursula's other thread on here re: distribution of leaflets via SNARL.
http://www.harringayonline.com/forum/topics/help-needed-leaflets-in...
And this is SNARL's Facebook page.
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=843193679119667&id=...

if anyone can help out in Tottenham will be greatly appreciated. Contact myself or PoppyRed

1. Yes primarily at night (but there have been one or two cases during the day)

2. The rabbits were found in their hutches in the garden. But in relation to the cats it's difficult to know. However, when they have been placed, it's often in the vicinity of owner's house, so they don't get it right..so potentially he does take them from street. But as I said, hard to now exactly

3. Unfortunately when foxes are ill (e.g. have toxoplasmosis) they can sometimes become tamer

But there is no indication of them being snared or anything that indicates a trap was laid to catch them.

Some cats were found with chicken in their stomaches so this is thought how he is luring them

Yes unfortunately there are documented cases of some serial killers starting with torturing animals. Whether this is a serial killer in the making or not.. the police are taking this seriously enough to be actively investigating.

We all hope this person is caught soon.

He will no doubt be caught by a member of the public seeing something am sure!
