Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello there

I'm really passionate about wildlife.

Wildlife-friendly spaces are vital - no matter the size of the space. Be it a postage-stamp-sized front garden; an unloved corner of a back garden; or a green spot nearby*, they can all be made welcoming to a wide variety of species, with just a few simple touches.

Sadly, more and more gardens are being paved over or decked these days - they have become useless to most wildlife and, as a result, visits are scarce. Would you believe, front gardens covering an area roughly 22 times the size of Hyde Park have been paved over, in London alone?!?  That's disastrous for our pollinator species, e.g. bees; hoverflies; damselflies, etc. A surge in sales of decking witnessed over the last five years may also be a factor in the declines of insects and consequently fledgling deaths, (as parents are unable to feed them adequate supplies of insects). This damage isn't irreversible though, provided we each do just a little bit to help nature along.

WHO AM I?

I'm a Tottenham Hale resident, living on the immense Ferry Lane Estate and am Nature Representative for the same. My areas of experience are: wildlife conservationwildlife mitigation and habitat creation.  I want to share what I know with others, so together, we can made Haringey a more beautiful and bio-diverse place.
