Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Variegated Water Flag Irises Needing New Home in a Few Weeks

Our yellow flag water irises have gotten too big for their boots - and for our Harringay pond - and we're going to have to divide them. Rather than throw the excess away, I was wondering if anyone else has a pond and wants some relatively vigorous marginals. The flowering season is relatively short, but the sword-like variegated leaves provide a good contrast for companion planting. We had a huge acer palmatum dissectum atropurpureum overhanging the pond until last year, but sadly it bit the dust (and there's now a small replacement). It went very well with the irises. Behind the pond is a smokebush which provides a good foil.

Any road up, if you're interested send me a private message and we can sort things out in a few weeks when I get round to dividing.

Very nice indeed, I bet the frogs love the pond, if they eat mosquito larvae then that's a bonus. Any other foe's known to be ingested by the humble Harringay frog, and how many species do we support here?

Sorry for the tangent, (but it got me curious, someone will know this stuff.)

Here's another thought, the HoL RHS Hampton Court Installation 2016, I'm up for it! You've inspired me.

One thing I know you can help with, is there a page for golden gardening moments?

There isn't one currently - but that's not to say you couldn't start one.

Hiya Hugh,

I'd love to take as many as you have going if noone else blags them.

Cheers,

Nemone.

We've just seprated out a bunch - all heavy with seed. There was one other taker by message - so happy to split in two. Let me know if you still want them and when you want to come and pick them up an we can sort out arrangements.

Hi Hugh,

Not sure if you still have any available but I my pond is looking a bit like pea soup and having some water iris will help to balance it out.  Please let me know if you still have any and I'd be happy to come pick it up

Cheers

Kate
