Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Wesleyan Methodist Church, Crouch Hill, c1905

Holly Park Wesleyan Church opened in 1875 as an iron chapel. It was replaced by a permanent church in 1881. Over the next few years the church was enlarged with the addition of school rooms, a clock tower and spire.

It was one of a pair hat stood on the southern slope of Crouch Hill. Click the churches tag below to see views of the street and the other church.

Both churches were demolished in 1961 to make way for council housing.

One old building (or a part of one) remains on the footprint where the Wesleyan church stood. The old OS map suggests that it might have been part of the church Sunday School.

The photo below shows the church prior to the addition of the spire.
